Benoit Vitse: PASSPORT
Theatre Na Zabradli, Monday, June 27 at 3.00 pm
A couple went on a vacation to another country (atmosphere hints to a totalitarian regime) arrives to the custom officer which is apparently quiet and normal. Here a custom officer will block border crossing without any explanation. The amazement of the two tourists turns into stupefaction and then to terror. Oppressive atmosphere annihilates the words, leaving verbal communication on hold.
The play questions the limits of freedom of the individual in a world that claims and shelters the feeling that all people are equal. The performance is enhanced by the gravity of the human desire to be free, to be regarded as a universal citizen whose home is anywhere in the world. Passport is a non-verbal performance trying to describe limitation and abuse, innocence and violence, victims and aggressors projected on the interaction between different cultures
Passport is an unconventional show based on pantomime, body language and theatre dance, a silent film full of symbols. Therefore the public is not necessarily one of a specific category. The show is aimed at all audience.
