Theatre Lucerna MB

Main Promoter of the Festival APOSTROF

Since its foundation in early 1975 the company kept collecting its experience by staging own musical comedies of rather poor quality. After the arrival to the Malostranská beseda – Music Club the following year Lucerna MB (the abbreviation stands for the name of its new home) began to co-operate with the professional director Zdeněk Pospíšil. First production that came out of this co-operation was “The Ballad for a Bandit” by Milan Uhde and Miloš Štědroň (January 1977), thanks to which the Lucerna MB immediately rose up among the top Prague amateur theatres. In its history Lucerna MB worked with many more Czech directors on the top (Peter Scherhaufer, Jan Borna, Oldřich Kužílek) that have merit of the high level of this company.

 

After the “velvet revolution” year 1989 an unexpected slum came and only “The Ballad” remained on the repertory. In the second half of 1990s some of the members of the company decided to adapt Žáček’s play under the title “. The director Akram Staněk was asked to participate in this direction, and he by time became a “resident” director and later also the artistic director. Under his leadership, many very successful productions were created: “and “Blue Face” by A. Goldflam Darkness”, „ by L. AndrejevHorror” , etc. Lucerna MB thus picked up the threads of its rich history of international tours. The plays “and “Darkness” were presented at the festival Fiesta! ‘98 in Venezuelan Caracas, Austria, Argentina, Russia and Germany as well.Horror” PraPtákoviny“

Lucerna MB realized several projects over the past few years for which mainly the young members of the company were responsible, as for example a collective show “GO’LASH”That Improper”, “, “, The Sold Stomach”the project Psycho I and II, Tot’s Family, In a Full Moon.
